Rating: - * Upset! ... The description states that AA batteries are required, but the box that the product comes in suggest that 4 UM-3 (AA size) batteries be used. So far, I haven't been able to locate that type. Rating: - * It does work...but get your knee pads! ... I bought one of these to find residual urine stains on my apartment carpeting that I just KNEW had to be there from my dog...at first, I didn't think it was working at all, since a couple of the stains I knew for sure the location of, but didn't see anything. Then, after making the room very, VERY dark, getting on my hands and knees, holding the light just 2-3 inches above the carpeting, I was finally able to discern the shapes of the stains -- they glowed just slightly...VERY subtle, unless the stain was fresh. Once I got the hang of it and knew what I was looking for, I was able to locate the urine spots much more easily -- but be prepared: if you want to do a whole room, it will take AT LEAST an hour to inspect it all thouroughly -- not including the actual cleaning. (I marked the stains with string outlines or coins to clean after my detective work). You'll likely find lots of surprises ("Wow, I never knew my dog ever peed back THERE...?!") ;-) So overall, it does work, but it should be a MUCH STRONGER light! I actually purchased it from a larger chain pet store and returned it after using it that one time -- I was honest, explaining to them that I'd used it, but felt the light was far too weak to be practical in most cases. They happily took it back. I guess my recommendation is to buy locally from a store with a good return policy, and try it out first. And also...wear your reading glasses if you need them! :-) Rating: - * Don't Waste Your Money ... I found that this light only works on heavy soiled area's. Carpet that is saturated in pee, etc. You have to be a foot or even inches from the spot to see exactly where it is soiled. It took a long time going over my carpet foot by foot and I still had to get on my hands and knees to "sniff" the area to make sure that what I was seeing was really urine, etc. I have bought several lights that do not work and this is one of them. The only light I found that works wonderful is a black light used for automobile's, it is a light for testing leaks in airconditioning and fuel lines. Unfortunately you are looking at around $100.00 or more for one of the auto black lights. Rating: - * doesn't work ... My cat started peeing intermittently and I needed a tool to find the spots. This tool doesn't work. I suspect the light isn't strong enough, but I'm not sure - all I know is that this was a waste of time and money. |
